Fancy Pants Poetry by Agostino Scafidi

The poetry in this collection will be biting, defensive, cynical and sarcastic. Dark humor is used to elaborate upon bleak life outlooks. At many times the spirit in these poems are rooted in antonymous rebellion. All that said, the reader will also encounter various instances synonymous with the proverbial "light at the end of tunnel".

I was contacted by the author to give an honest review of this poetry book. But first, I feel like I have a confession to make - I'm not a big fan of poetry. Poetry is not really something I enjoy reading. However, I can say I was pleasantly surprised by these poems.

Fancy Pants Poetry is a collection of white rhyme poetry. The poems are short, witty, sarcastic, revealing some pretty raw emotions. I loved the fact that the author used white rhyme just because it allowed a lot more space for spontaneity rather than using some specific words to fit into a rhyme type. The poems seemed more real to me this way.

It is a fun and quite refreshing read. And I would recommend it to to those who are not the poetry-type readers like myself, also.
